The difficulty level of the Everest High Passes Trek can be rated between 8 to 9 out of 10 due to several challenging factors. The trek includes crossing three high passes, traversing steep uphill and downhill terrains, and scaling altitudes above 5000m.
To prepare for this high-pass trek, a high level of physical fitness is necessary. Even beginners can opt for this trek but with proper preparation, including daily cardio exercises such as jogging, walking, or running.
Another factor that makes this high-pass trek challenging is the high altitude. Hiking to areas above 4000m increases the risk of high altitude sickness. Therefore, our trekking staff is trained to provide frequent guidance and support during the trek.
The designated trekking guides will give you accurate information about your walking pace and how to acclimate to the high altitude. They will also carry necessary medications like Acetazolamide or Diamox, an oximeter, and other essential kits. We take the issue of high altitude sickness seriously, and our guides are equipped to handle such situations.
If you're planning to go on the Everest High Pass Trek and are wondering about the best time to go, we've got some suggestions for you. Weather conditions are a crucial factor that affects most trekkers, so it's important to choose the right season for this trek.
The trek involves traversing rocky, slippery, and snowy paths, especially at Cho La Pass. Therefore, the ideal times for this trek are Spring (April-May) and Autumn (September-November).
During the Spring, the weather is clear, providing excellent views of the peaks. The temperature is moderate, making the hike more comfortable as the day won't be too hot.
Similarly, Autumn is also a suitable season for the trek. The temperature is mild and pleasant, and the air is clear, providing spectacular mountain views similar to those in April-May.
